Photographs, whether old or new, provide
one of the richest sources of information. They also provide many hours
of entertainment as well as the basis for endless arguments.
The Highland Railway attracted many
well-known photographers from the early days of railway photography.
The spectacular Highland scenery continues to provide the backdrop for
many outstanding photographs of modern traction and the many tourist
trains which come to the far north.
